Key 2022-23 Tax Dates

Here’s your handy list of all the key tax dates for 2022-23. It’s worth taking half an hour to think through your financial year now. Referring to this tax planner, you can plot all the big dates into your diary.

This gives you:

  • plenty of prep time
  • time to plan the admin into your work schedule
  • no last minute deadline panic

You know if its in the diary, you’ll do it. So don’t wait. Have a planning session this week and bookmark this for future reference.

Don’t worry, not everything on here will apply to you. Some stuff will just be for self employed taxpayers, some for PAYE. Skim to find what applies to your working situation and tackle your tax without any of the stress.

5th April 2022

  • last day of 2021-22 tax year
  • 2017-18 PAYE tax rebate claims deadline

6th April 2022

19th April 2022

  • Deadline to submit final 2021-22 PAYE payment to HMRC. Filing for this tax year is concluded with his submission.

31st May 2022

  • Employers must send P60s to all their employees by this date
  • Employees should check they’ve received their P60

6th July 2022

  • Deadline for employees to send P11D forms to HMRC

19th July 2022

  • Deadline to make cheque payments of Class 1A National Insurance owed on attendance expenses, travel and benefits for 2021-22 tax year

22nd July 2022

  • Deadline for digital payment of Class 1A National Insurance owed on benefits or expenses on 2021-22 tax year

31st July 2022

5th October 2022

  • Deadline to register for self assessment if you’ve never submitted a self assessment tax return before. You need to fill in a CWF1 form. You’ll receive your Unique Taxpayer Reference Number and activation code in plenty of time to make your first submission.

31st October 2022

  • Deadline to file a paper self assessment tax return for 2021-22
  • Deadline for 2018-19 Tools Capital Allowance claim

30th December 2022

  • If you’re self employed and employed, and owe less than £3,000, you can ask to pay your self assessment tax bill through the PAYE system. This is the request deadline.

31st January 2023

  • 11.59pm deadline for digital submission of your 2021-22 self assessment tax return
  • Pay any remaining balancing payment for 2022-23
  • Make first payment on account for 2023-24

5th April 2023

  • End of 2022-23 tax year
  • Deadline for 2018-19 tax rebate claims
